Digitisation motivates employees at the waste management company
What is the specific challenge?
For more than a century, the Ravensburg-based family business Bausch GmbH has devoted itself to the collection and processing of waste. Since the company was founded, it is not only the industry that has changed: the changes that have taken place in society for some time now with respect to growth in bureaucracy and digitisation have made modern, adaptable corporate structures indispensable.
The company itself has steadily adapted, but documentation processes have remained analogue and slow. This has naturally made itself felt in the day-to-day work of Bausch employees, who have to record a lot of data during their daily activities: container management, stocktaking, incoming goods inspections and quality checks.
What does the solution look like?
With the app construction kit from smapOne, Bausch GmbH is now returning to an agile way of working, because employees themselves are able to digitise their processes in just a few steps. All necessary documentation processes are mapped in an app, which enables standardised data collection.
With the integration of photos, digital signatures and other helpful functions, compact data records are created and no subsequent file searching or merging is necessary. Once the log is complete, the captured information is forwarded directly to management and to customers as needed.
What has improved?
Inefficient processes are a thing of the past. With the fundamental process optimisation, work motivation has also increased thanks to uniform procedures and flexible log templates which mean documentation requirement is no longer a challenge. Centralised data access leads to improved responsiveness and customer service, so orders are processed faster. Saving so much time reduces the burden on employees and their routines.
How does the digital transition work in the company?
To ensure the new tool fits into the daily work routine in the best possible way, smapOne conducted an introductory workshop with Bausch. Expectations, ideas, platform functions and app models were worked out together during the workshop.
By giving employees the chance to resolve problems themselves, scope is developed for creative ideas. The app construction kit is therefore popular for experimenting and "playing around". Everyone is on the lookout for additional processes that can be further optimised.
